Su, Ceramic Sculpture

A semi-abstract female form handmade in polished ceramic on a wood plinth. With beautifully observed sensual lines and delightful curves. The wonderfully rich surface colour variation and smooth patina are achieved by smoking the fired terracotta over sawdust and then waxing and polishing.

Sophie Howard lives and works in Bristol, producing sculpture in ceramic, willow and found materials. She graduated from Winchester School of Art in 1979. Her work has included portrait commissions, architectural details for historic house renovations and works for national television. She has also worked extensively in arts education. Her sculpture can be found in collections all over the UK and in France and Vietnam.

This is a dramatic and elegant piece with lovely elongated proportions to create a striking focal point in any room.
